Buies Creek, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team concludes its four-game road swing on Tuesday afternoon when the Pirates visit Amanda Littlejohn Stadium to face in-state foe Campbell.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed via FloSoftball.
Emma Jackson leads the Pirates at the plate, batting .416 and tallying 52 hits (1st in AAC/t-7th in NCAA) along with 21 doubles (1st in AAC/1st in NCAA). Jackson was named best outfielder in the country by D1Softball and the eighth-best outfielder in the country by Softball America for the month of March. Morgan Johnson leads the American and is tied for 20th in the country in RBI with 38. Anna Sawyer is batting .385 with 12 doubles and 20 RBI. ECU is currently first in the AAC in batting average (.321) and doubles (71). Taylor Apple leads ECU in the circle with a 2.29 ERA and 75 strikeouts to go along with five complete games while Jordan Hatch has a 10-5 mark with 44 strikeouts.
Last Time Out
The Pirates are coming off a 1-2 weekend at No. 25 Florida Atlantic that saw two of the three contests go into extra innings. The Pirates took the series opener 5-4 in 14 innings before the Owls bounced back to win the final two games 10-7 and 6-5 respectively.
Scouting the Camels
Campbell enters Tuesday coming off a 5-4 loss to Monmouth at home on Saturday. The Camels had won their previous four games prior to the loss. Lindsay Lumsden leads Campbell at the plate with a .352 batting average and nine doubles while Isabella Smith holds a 12-5 record in the circle with a 2.36 ERA and 112 strikeouts.
Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series with Campbell 39-13 with seven of those losses coming at Campbell. The last time the two teams met was in the Kickin' Chicken Classic on Feb. 9, 2020 that the Pirates won 4-1.
