Pirates Drop Series Finale To Tulsa In Six Innings, 10-2

Tulsa, Okla. – Logan Sutton and Hailey Massaro each recorded two hits but East Carolina could not overcome a 3-0 deficit in the third inning as the Pirates fell 10-2 in six innings to Tulsa on Sunday afternoon at Collins Family Softball Complex.
Emma Jackson and Taylor Woodring each added an RBI for the Pirates (30-14, 7-11 AAC).
Tulsa struck first in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single followed by an RBI double to take an early 3-0 lead. The Pirates would battle back within a run after Jackson's RBI single and Woodring reaching on a fielder's choice to score Massaro in the top of the fifth.
The Golden Hurricane would hit a two RBI double to extend their lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth and blow the game open in the bottom of the sixth with two home runs en route to the run-rule win.
Taylor Apple (11-5) surrendered three runs and three hits in two innings for the loss.

East Carolina will visit UNC Wilmington on Wednesday for a midweek battle at 5 p.m.
