Memphis, Tenn. – The East Carolina softball team resumes American Athletic Conference play this weekend when the Pirates travel west to face Memphis at Tigers Softball Complex beginning on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

Saturday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Tyler Springs on the call.

Emma Jackson continues her strong season with the Pirates, batting .412 with 68 hits, an NCAA-leading 23 doubles and 45 RBI. Morgan Johnson leads the team in home runs with 13 and has hit four homers in the team's last five games. Taylor Apple leads the Pirates' pitching staff with a 2.54 ERA and 97 strikeouts while Addy Bullis is 11-4 in the circle with a 2.74 ERA.

Last Time Out
The Pirates are coming off an impressive midweek victory at North Carolina on Tuesday as ECU slugged its way to a 6-4 win, behind home runs from Morgan Johnson and Logan Sutton, marking the first time since 2002-03 that the Pirates have defeated the Tar Heels in back-to-back seasons as ECU downed North Carolina 8-4 last year.

Scouting the Tigers
Memphis is coming off a 5-2 midweek win on Wednesday over Jackson State as the Tigers scored five unanswered runs after falling behind 2-0 in the fifth inning. The Tigers are led at the plate by McKaylee Polk's .286 batting average and three home runs while Zoe Adebayo leads the team with 20 RBI and is second on the team with a .274 batting average. Taniyah Brown leads Memphis' pitching staff with a 5.05 ERA, 72 strikeouts and three wins in the circle.

Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series with Memphis 32-17 and have won four of the last five meetings in the series. The Tigers took the last contest, 6-3, in Greenville on Apr. 16, 2023. ECU is 14-9 against Memphis on the road.
