Last Time Out
Despite holding a 19-2 edge in shots, the Pirates had to settle for a scoreless draw against Campbell on Sunday. Kayce Taylor got the start in goal and made one save as she went the full 90. Both teams had chances, though the home side looked the better team for much of the game, but in the end it was a stalemate in Johnson Stadium. A tad shorthanded and on a humid night in Greenville, perhaps it's best taken as a sign of growth that the Pirates were still disappointed with a draw with their Buies Creek rivals.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers, despite their record, have looked like an improved team this season. A season opening draw with Richmond set up a tough road loss against a much improved UNCW side. Last time out, the Chants fell to No. 15 Auburn on the road, a perfectly reasonable result. Vivienne Carr has gotten the majority of the work in goal for Coastal, making nine saves while allowing five goals. On the offensive side, Olivia Goretski has the lone goal of the year with Stella Lawson assisting.
Series History
The Pirates and Chanticleers have met just twice and did so in quick succession in 2008 and 2009. Coastal took the first of those matchups with a 2-1 result in Greenville before the teams battled to a scoreless draw in Conway in '09.
