Pirates Play to 0-0 Draw with Coastal Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Coastal Carolina on Thursday night in Johnson Stadium.

With the result, the Pirates drop to 2-0-2 and Coastal moves to 0-2-2.

The Pirates out shot the Chanticleers 10-6 and forced three saves by keeper Vivienne Carr. Maeve English made one second half save to keep the clean sheet for the Pirates, the 23rd of her career.

The Pirates earned six corners to Coastal's four. Despite the Pirates statistical advantage, it was Coastal who had the better chances in the game with one shot going off the crossbar and twice being stopped by a timely Juliana Viera challenge.

It was a hot night in Johnson Stadium, with a "feels like" in triple digits and it showed on the field with the slow, at times methodical pace of the game.
