Schweitzer Closes Season for Pirates with New Personal Best at NCAA Regional
November 14, 2025 | Cross Country
EARLYSVILLE, V.A. – Competing as East Carolina's lone representative at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship, Abrielle Schweitzer delivered one of the strongest postseason performances in program history, clocking a personal-best 20:53.3 in the women's 6K on Friday morning. Her finish of 65th place marks ECU's highest individual regional placement since 2019.
Running with confidence from the opening kilometer, Schweitzer stayed composed in a deep and competitive field of more than 250 athletes. Her 20:53.3 not only set a new lifetime best, but also marked the second time in her career that she has broken the 21-minute barrier, keeping her spot as the third fastest 6k in program history.
Schweitzer's performance caps a standout junior campaign that also included earning All-Conference honors two weeks ago at the American Athletic Conference Championships. As the only Pirate to qualify for regionals this season, she continued to raise the program's standards with another breakthrough race.
Her 65th-place finish builds momentum for both Schweitzer and the ECU women's cross country program heading into 2026, showcasing her ability to compete among the region's elite.
