Sutton's Walk-Off Lifts Pirates Past Radford In Eight Innings, 9-8

Emma Jackson went 2-for-5 with three runs for the Pirates (3-2) who saw a 7-0 lead evaporate in the top of the fifth inning as Radford rallied to pull within a run but Sutton's solo home run pushed the Pirates' lead back to 8-6 in the bottom of the fifth.Â
The Highlanders would tie the game at 8-8 with a double and a single after the Pirates failed the get the final out to end the game in the top of the seventh. The Pirates would hold Radford off from scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and after a Jackson single, Annie Kate Dalton and Anna Sawyer both drew walks to set up Sutton's game-winning hit.
Kendall Frost (1-2) picked up the win in relief while Dakota Redmon (1-1) took the loss giving up two hits and an earned run.

East Carolina faces Radford and No. 22 Boston tomorrow at 3 and 5 p.m. respectively.
