Pirates Fall At Clemson, 6-2
February 28, 2025 | Softball
Clemson, S.C. – Kanisha Anderson went 3-for-4 at the plate but five runs over the span of the third and fourth innings by Clemson proved to be too much as the Pirates fell to the Tigers, 6-2, on Friday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium.
After Logan Sutton hit a double in the top of the second, Sutton scored the first run of the game on Hailey Massaro's RBI single and the Pirates maintained their 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the third.
Clemson pounced on the Pirates with a two RBI double in the bottom of the third and the Tigers increased their lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game.
The Pirates had a chance to cut into Clemson's lead with Anderson on third with one out but Clemson was able to get out of the inning without an ECU run crossing home in the top of the fifth. ECU put its second run of the day on the scoreboard on Chloe Geijer's RBI single in the top of the sixth but the Tigers would not allow ECU to get any closer down the stretch.
Kendall Frost (4-4) tossed four strikeouts in 3.1 innings and held Clemson to just one hit in the first two innings before being relieved by Taylor Apple in the bottom of the fourth.
