Tampa, Fla. – East Carolina is set to travel to Tampa this weekend for a three-game American Athletic Conference series against South Florida at USF Softball Stadium.
The series will get started on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with Saturday's game time slated for 4:30 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday scheduled for 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed via ESPN+ with Ryan Urquhart (play-by-play) and Alex Powers (analyst) on the call.
The Pirates (17-10, 4-2 AAC) are coming off a 14-10 win over N.C. Central at home on Tuesday night, behind three hits from Kanisha Anderson and home runs from Annie Kate Dalton and Brooke Masingale. Anderson leads East Carolina at the plate, batting .471 (30th in NCAA, 1st in AAC) and has 10 multi-hit games this season. Emma Jackson and Morgan Johnson each lead the Pirates with eight home runs. The Pirates are the top team in the American in home runs with 33 on the season (t-33rd in NCAA). ECU is 13-0 this season when they score six or more runs and 8-1 when scoring in the first inning. Taylor Apple (2.62 ERA, 72 Ks) and Kendall Frost (3.99 ERA, 48 Ks) are the two main arms in the circle for ECU.
Scouting the Bulls
South Florida (26-8, 5-1 AAC)) comes into the series on a nine-game winning streak after run ruling Stetson in a midweek doubleheader, 9-1 and 8-0. The Bulls are the top team in the league in batting average (.329) and second in ERA (2.48). Olivia Elliott leads USF at the plate with a .375 batting average and Alex Wilkes has recorded 32 RBI (2nd in AAC). Payton Dixon (1.83 ERA, 63 Ks) and Belle Sardja (1.90 ERA, 40 Ks) are a combined 21-5 in the circle.
