
Pirates Place Five On CSC Academic All-District® Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Morgan Johnson, Annie Kate Dalton, Logan Sutton, Jordan Hatch and Anna Sawyer have been tabbed to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team according to an announcement by the organization.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Johnson graduated from East Carolina with a Master of Science in Environmental Health and a 4.0 GPA while being one of the top hitters at the plate for the Pirates with a .322 batting average, 17 home runs and 47 RBI. Johnson's 17 home runs are tied for the third most home runs in a single season in Pirate Softball history. The Evans, Ga. native was named All-AAC First Team, becoming only the second Pirate in the program's American Athletic Conference's era to earn first team honors. Johnson was also selected as a finalist on the national ballot for the CSC Academic All-America team.
Dalton graduated from East Carolina with a degree in kinesiology and a 3.54 GPA while batting .285 at the plate and hitting 10 home runs, which was the third most on the team. Dalton started in every contest behind the plate at catcher, throwing out 13 runners and tallying 242 putouts. The Murphy, N.C. native was named All-AAC Second Team after recording 15 multi-hit games and tallying 43 RBI.
Sutton makes her appearance on the all-district team for the second straight season as she finishes her four-year career at East Carolina with a degree in entrepreneurship and a 3.75 GPA while leading the Pirates with a team-high 13 doubles and recording 109 putouts and 81 assists defensively in the infield. Sutton played and started in all 57 games for East Carolina and added five home runs at the plate.
Hatch concludes her four-year Pirate career with her MBA and a 4.0 GPA while making 24 appearances in her final season with the Pirates. The Locust, N.C. native recorded a 3.75 ERA and tossed 30 strikeouts in 50.1 innings in the circle. Hatch picked up a save and a win in the home series finale sweep of North Texas and eclipsed 250 career strikeouts on Feb. 26 in ECU's win over UNCW. She also lands on the academic all-district team for the second consecutive year.
Sawyer, a communication major, recorded a 3.51 GPA in the classroom while slashing numbers of .363/.548/.495 at the plate. The Greenville native recorded 22 RBI, nine doubles and hit six home runs as a junior while tallying multiple hits in 10 contests. She tied a single-game career-high in hits twice this past season with three hits against St. Francis (Feb. 8) and Loyola Chicago (Feb. 22).
