East Carolina Earns ITA Carolina Region Community Service Award
June 10, 2025 | Women's Tennis
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's tennis team has been named the recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolina Region Community Service Award for the second-straight year according to an announcement by the organization Tuesday morning.
Â
"Winning the ITA Community Service Award two years in a row is more than just recognition — it reflects who we are, who we've been, and who we aspire to become," senior Martina Muzzolon said. "Giving back has always been at the heart of our team. From our coaches and alumni to current players and hopefully future ones as well, this program has consistently believed in making a meaningful difference. Whether it's brightening a child's day at an elementary school, supporting families at the Ronald McDonald House, or helping on campus, these moments bring us closer not just as teammates but as members of the larger ECU community. What we give may be small compared to what we receive, but leaving each place a little better than we found it is the legacy we are proud to carry forward."
Â
The women's tennis program has completed nearly 1,000 hours of community service over the last two years, serving as mentors for children, going on hospital visits and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. The team also collected the Team Pirate Service Award at the Student Athlete Advisory Committee's end of year awards show the Goldspys while senior Anne-Lou Champion received The Depalo Highest GPA award.
