CARY, N.C. – The East Carolina cross country team competed for the second time in 2025 at the Adidas XC Challenge on Friday evening. The Pirates finished in eighth as a team in both the men's and women's races.

On the men's side, Alex Sawyer led the group again with a 32nd-place finish in 19:08.4 on the 6K course. Judah Lacroix followed not far behind in 38th in 19:16.3. Elliott Kleckner (58th), Will Palopoli (86th) and Aidan Herman (122nd) rounded out the scoring for the Pirates.

The Pirate men finished the meet with 240 points for their eighth-place finish. North Carolina won the meet overall in dominant fashion with a 15-point sweep.

On the women's side, Abrielle Schweitzer also led the way for a second straight meet with her 36th-place effort in 17:47.6 on the 5K course. She was followed by Kaylee McCullough in 47th place in 18:00.8. Katrina Ford (76th), Bella Wood (84th) and Navaya Zales (92nd) rounded out the scoring lineup for the women.

The ECU women finished the day with 236 points for a matching eighth-place result. Host school NC State won the meet with 38 points.
