
Zuniga Earns Gold In 1-Meter, Pirates Remain In Third At American Conference Championship

Greensboro, N.C. – The East Carolina women's swimming and diving team finished its second day of competition at the American Conference Swimming and Diving Championship at the Greensboro Aquatics Center on Thursday.
The Pirates remain in third after two days of action with 513.5 points, trailing Liberty (602 points) and Rice (769 points).
"Successful night for the Pirates," head coach Matthew Jabs said. "Anytime you can come out of a session with three school records, three podium finishes and a conference champion, it's a good day."
Frida Zuniga earned gold in the 1-meter dive final for the Pirates with a program top 10 score of 314.75 while the Pirates' relay team of Carlie Clements, Elena Dinehart, Mikayla Durkin and Heidi Bruining earned bronze in the 200 free relay with a finals time of 1:30.47. Clements also earned bronze in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.08.
ECU's 400 medley relay team of Bruining, Clements, Alyssa Jackson and Tanith Mueller set a program record with a time of 3:39.96 and Clements set an ECU record in the 100 backstroke to lead off the relay.
East Carolina continues competition tomorrow with swimming prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m. and diving prelims starting at 11 a.m.
