GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns home to the friendly confines of Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Tuesday evening as the Pirates host Elon for a midweek contest.
The game is set for a 5 p.m. first pitch and will be streamed on ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson (play-by-play) and Courtney Layton (analyst) on the call. Admission to the game is free for all fans.
The Pirates are coming off of another American Conference series win last weekend, this time on the road as ECU defeated Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. Much like in their conference series opener against Wichita State, the Pirates recovered from a game one blowout with solid pitching and defense to shut down the Owls' offense in Saturday's doubleheader.
Kanisha Anderson leads ECU at the plate with a .368 batting average and 35 hits while Anna Sawyer (.349) and Jenna Krol (.341) give the Pirates a solid top of the order. Sydney Rainford leads the Pirates' arms in the circle with a 2.94 ERA after recording two complete game shutouts in the conference series opener that led to her being named the American Conference Pitcher of the Week while Julia Apostolakos enters the game with a 9-4 record and a team-high 50 strikeouts.
Scouting the Phoenix
Elon comes in on a two-game winning streak and the Phoenix are led offensively by Chloe Hatzopoulos (.333 BA, 25 hits). Anna Dew leads Elon in the circle with a 3.17 ERA and 65 strikeouts.
