Lacrosse Earns IWCLA Academic Team And Individual Honors

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – A program-best 16 members of the 2026 East Carolina lacrosse team have earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Roll recognition, the organization announced Wednesday. Additionally, for the eighth time in nine years, the Pirates earned Academic Honor Squad accolades as a team after posting a 3.65 cumulative GPA for the 2025-26 academic year.

Jamie Behar, Rachel Chessock, Kirra Coufal, Gianna Gentile, Sarah Goodison, Mackenzie Hand, Maya Koebke, Riley Matthiesen, Grace McCarthy, Maeve Meehan, Grace Moore, Taylor Padgett, Emily Peek, Regan Reed, Katelyn Sclafani and Raleigh Speed all represented the Pirates on the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.

The Pirates are one of 357 teams across all divisions to earn this distinction and have done so in every single season in the program's history (the award was not given in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

In the nine-year history of the women's program, 47 student-athletes have tallied 68 IWCLA Academic Honor accolades, while 19 have been recognized for two or more years with Sophie LoCierco being the lone Pirate to receive the honor three times.
