Greensboro, N.C. – Anna Miotto and Caitlen-Star Dolan Boodram each scored a goal as East Carolina rallied to force a 2-2 draw against UNCG at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Sunday evening.

Miotto and the Pirates (0-1-1) capitalized on a second shot opportunity in the third minute of the first half to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The Pirates controlled most of the first half and looked to be heading into the break with the lead until UNCG's Madison Bass scored at the 40-minute mark to tie the contest.

Both teams continued to play physical and stout defense to start the second half in a match that featured 35 combined fouls, 21 which were committed by UNCG, with scoring chances few and far between.

UNCG's Bryanna Parkes blasted a curving shot from outside the box at the 75th minute but Olivia Dietrich laid out for the save, preventing the go-ahead goal from the Spartans.

After the Pirates came up empty on their attack in the 80th minute, UNCG countered and took the lead at the 82nd minute as Laney Smith's shot just snuck past Dietrich's reach.

ECU had a free kick just outside of the Spartans' box in the waning minutes but the Pirates' cross in the box went wide and out of play. Dolan Boodram delivered the tying goal on a brilliant ball from out deep that nestled between the top crossbar and the outstretched hand of UNCG's Blythe Clark. The Pirates had a final shot in the last seconds from AJ Mayock but Clark comfortably stepped in front of the shot to seal the draw.
