Chastity Pickett serves as the Assistant Sprints and Hurdles Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for East Carolina track and field, bringing elite-level experience and a passion for athlete development to the Pirates’ program. A 2023 graduate of Campbell University, Pickett was a standout student-athlete where she competed all four years and earned All-American honors while majoring in Sport Management with a minor in Healthcare Management.
During her senior campaign, Pickett delivered one of the most decorated seasons in program history. Indoors, she was named Big South Most Valuable Athlete after capturing conference titles in the 60m, 60m hurdles, and 200m, setting school records in each event. She continued her dominance outdoors, winning both the 100m and 400m hurdles at the Big South Championships while also contributing to a record-setting 4x100 relay team. Her performances earned her Big South Track Athlete of the Year honors, recognizing her as the conference’s top women’s track athlete.
On the national stage, Pickett qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries in both hurdle events, advancing to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 400m hurdles. There, she made history by placing third overall with a school-record time of 54.86—marking the highest finish in program history. She also competed at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, further showcasing her ability against the nation’s top professional athletes, and participated in World Trials competition.
Prior to her collegiate success, Pickett built an outstanding high school career at Westover Comprehensive High School in Albany, Georgia. She amassed over 40 first-place medals and earned four all-region selections while rewriting the record books. Pickett set the state record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.03 and claimed two state championships in the event, in addition to a state title in the 100-meter hurdles. A multi-sport athlete, she also excelled in basketball and softball, earning first- and second-team all-region honors on the court and being named her conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.
