Courtney Hofer joined the staff in June 2019 as an assistant coach.
āWe are very excited about adding Courtney to our staff,ā Hamilton said. āShe brings a lot of passion in regard to goalkeeping and is very eager to learn and grow as a coach. She understands what it takes to make it in this profession and has the potential to be very successful. Everyone we spoke with about Courtney praised her leadership and positive attitude, which will be great to add to our program.ā
Hofer spent the 2018-19 season playing professionally for Empoli FC in Italy. Empoli FC plays in Serie B, the second highest professional league in Italian soccer.
Prior to her time in Italy, Hofer played at Connecticut in her final year of collegiate eligibility. In Storrs, Hofer was a team captain and appeared in 10 games, all as a goalkeeper. She finished the season sixth in the AAC in saves per game (4.40) and 10th in both total saves (44) and goals against average (1.70). Ā
Hofer started her collegiate career at Texas Christian University. During her three seasons with the Horned Frogs, Hofer appeared in 24 games in goal. She helped TCU make the first NCAA Tournament in program history during the 2016 season.
