Courtney Smith was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at East Carolina University in April 2021 and works primarily with Soccer program.
Prior to joining the Pirates, Smith served as an assistant athletic trainer working predominantly with the Appalachian State Women’s Basketball team.
Smith earned her master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Medicine from UNCG in May 2020 while also working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Spartans. She was responsible for working with the men’s soccer, co-ed cheer and dance teams.
Smith also served as a certified athletic training intern at Cleveland State University before heading to UNCG. At Cleveland State, Smith worked primarily with the women’s soccer squad.
Prior to earning her master’s degree from UNCG, Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training at West Virginia in 2017. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA).
