Dan Ruyle, a veteran collegiate golf coach for almost two decades, is in his third season as assistant men's golf coach at East Carolina.

He led the SU Pirates to eight NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including three straight with the men from 2013-15. The women's team qualified for the NCAAs five consecutive seasons from 2006-10 while finishing in the top-5 from 2007-10, including a third-place finish in 2008.
Ruyle's teams won five conference championships and he was named coach-of-the-year four times. The women's team won four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) titles, including three in a row from 2007-09, and the men shared the conference title in 2010.
After the women won their second-straight SCAC championship in 2008, Ruyle was tabbed the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Great Lakes Coach-of-the-Year.
During his 15 years at Southwestern, Ruyle instructed eight All-Americans, including three first-team selections along with 11 all-region players and 43 all-conference honorees. Fourteen of his student-athletes were recognized as All-America Scholars.
He was a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee from 2000-06, serving as chairman his final years on the board.
Prior to becoming a collegiate coach, Ruyle was the assistant golf pro at Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas for three years. He competed professionally in the 1998 and '99 Assistants Winter Tour as well as select Northern Texas PGA section events.
Ruyle earned his bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M in 1997 and was a letterman on the men's golf team.Â

Ruyle came to ECU after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at North Carolina from 2015-17 under Coach Sapp following a 15-year stint as head men's and women's golf coach at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
