Men's Golf Has Disappointing Day At Adam's Cup
October 08, 2002 | Men's Golf
Virginia Tech leads the field of 17 teams after round one, tallying a score of 293, 13 strokes above par. East Carolina is 13 strokes off the leader, with a one round score of 306. The host school, Rhode Island finished the day in a seventh place tie with East Tennessee State at 300.
Jonathan Hill led the Pirate men this afternoon, finishing in a tie for third place, with a score of 71. He shot 35 on the front nine and 36 on the back. Hill was the only Pirate player to break into the top-20.
Kasper Jorgenson of Georgia State leads all players with a score of 68, and Andy Dustman of Kentucky sits in second place with a score of 69. Four players are tied for third place with Hill.
Due to time constraints, there is a possibility that the second round of the Adam's Cup will not be completed this evening. The holes that are not finished today, will be played tomorrow morning at Newport National. The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played at the 72-par 6,902-yard Newport Country Club.
