Margaret Mitchell Named To All-Scholar Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina women's golfer Margaret Mitchell has been named to the NCAA Division I All-Scholar Team, announced today by the National Golf Coaches Association. Mitchell, who has a 3.55 Grade Point Average in business administration is one of 232 golfers nationwide to be named to the All-Scholar Team.
The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 (3.40 for juniors and seniors) and student-athletes must have completed at least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Mitchell participated in nine of 10 events this past season, completing 27 rounds in competition. She shot an average of 80.1 in an 18-hole round, and had one top 10 finish and two top 20 finishes this past season. Mitchell, a native of Raleigh, N.C., returns to the Pirate line-up this fall for her junior season.
