GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina University head golf coach Kevin Williams has announced the signing of Ryan Solan of North Mecklenburg High School from Charlotte, N.C., to the men's golf team. Solan inked a National Letter of Intent on Friday, November 14, for the 2004-05 season.
In 2003, Solan captured the Plantations Junior Golf Tour Championship and also earned first team All-American honors on the Plantations Junior Golf Tour. As a member of the 2003 US World Junior Golf Cup Team that played in Scotland, Solan also won the 2003 AJGA Ping at the Peninsula championship after posting a 54-hole 5-under par 211 (70-72-69). He qualified for the 2003 USGA Junior Amateur, where he advanced to the match play portion of the tournament before losing in the first round.
"Ryan is a very talented player and a winner," said Williams. "He has proven consistency on all types of courses. He can play the tough golf course where par is a good score and has shown the ability to go low where needed. He will be a tremendous asset for our program and will make an immediate impact."
