Pirate Women Tied For Sixth At Waterlefe/USF Invitational
March 18, 2003 | Women's Golf
The Pirate women are tied with Ole Miss, just seven strokes off the leader at 309. Louisville, Penn State, Campbell and TCU are all ranked above East Carolina after the first day of competition.
ECU's Jessica Krasny is tied for second place along with three other golfers. Krasny shot a 73 in round one. Adrienne Mitchell is the second highest placed player for the Pirates in a ti for sixth place at 74.
"I was really proud of the way our upperclassmen played today," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "Unfortunately, our freshman played like freshman today. They (the freshman) have been playing well for us all year and today they just didn't handle a tough golf course very well, and we were forced to count a score of 85 in our total for the first round. Hopefully we can come out here on Tuesday and put ourselves into a position to move into the top three or five."
The final round of the tournament will be Tuesday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
