Krasny Leads ECU Women's Golf to Title

"This was a huge win for us," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "We have had four wins at home since we first started this program a little over two years ago, but have never won a title on the road. We set a goal this season to win an away tournament, and I am so proud of our girls this weekend in having accomplished that goal. We finished above both Penn State and UNCW (both top-40 teams), and we have never had wins over those teams before, so we are very excited."
The Pirates finished in first place with a three-round score of 920, shooting 311 in round one, 309 in round two, and 300 in round three. The Pirates finished 13 strokes above the second place team, Penn State, which completed the tournament with a three-round score of 933.
ECU's Jessica Krasny won the individual title with a combined score of 223, and Jamie Quinn was the second highest Pirate finisher in fourth place with a score of 227.
"I'm real proud of the way Jessica played in this tournament. I'm also proud of Jamie Quinn. This was Jamie's third collegiate start, and she finished fourth. Both of those ladies were instrumental in our winning here this weekend."
The Pirates will return home next weekend, March 7-9 to host the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate at the Bradford Creek Golf Course in Greenville, N.C.
