Lady Pirate Golf In Third Place At Taco Bell Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team posted a pair of 295 team scores in the first two rounds and sit in third place just six strokes behind tournament leader Augusta State at the 2004 Taco Bell Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6, 093-yard Bradford Creek Golf Club.
The Pirates (16-10-0) feed off of solid play from senior Adrienne Millican, who carded a 36-hole score of 145 (72-73) and is currently in sixth place. Fellow Pirate Heidi Helliesen is two strokes back from Millican at 147 (76-71) and is tied for 10th. Other Lady Pirates participating in the event are Jessica Hauser, currently tied for 22nd, Michelle Williams, tied for 37th and Emelie Lind, who is tied for 43rd. Playing as individuals this week are Jamie Quinn, tied for 48th and Shawn Kelley at 85th place.
The individual leader is Patti Hogeboom (Augusta State) who fired a 71 and 70 and has a one stroke lead over Maryland's Katie Stepanek (142) and a two shot lead over teammate Garrett Phillips (143).
In the team portion of the tournament, Augusta State set a fall event record by posting a second round score of 287 and has a 36-hole score of 584. Sitting in second place is Coastal Carolina (589) just five shots back. ECU is in third at 590, while Maryland and East Tennessee State are tied for fourth (596).
