GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Erica Montgomery and Aisha Bilal-Mack have signed National Letters of Intent with East Carolina University, ECU women's track head coach Matt Munson announced today.
Montgomery, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., is the state runner-up in the indoor 300-meter dash and 55-meter dash. Her time of 40.16 seconds in the 300-meter dash ranks second all-time in North Carolina. Erica currently holds the fastest 200-meter performance in the state this season at 24.59, as well as top-10 performances in the 100 (12.11) and 400 (57.3). She is the leading scorer and current MVP on the two-time state championship team from Mount Tabor HS.
Bilal-Mack (East Orange, N.J.) is the 2003 New Jersey State Group IV Champion in the 400 Hurdles, as well as the silver medalist in the New Jersey Meet of Champs. During the indoor season in 2004, Aisha claimed the Group IV title in the 400 meter. She was named first team all-state in the 4x200 Relay and second team all-state in the 400-meter. She posted personal bests of 61.3 (400 Hurdles), 57.67 (indoor 400), and 2:18.0 (800 meters). Bilal-Mack is a senior at East Orange Campus HS.
"We're very excited to have Erica and Aisha join the Pirates for the 2004-2005 season," said Munson. "They are dedicated young ladies in the classroom and on the track. They have championship desires and the hearts of true Pirates."
The signing of Montgomery and Bilal-Mack bring the 2004-05 class to three. In November of 2003, Portia Baker (Jamestown, N.C.) signed a National Letter of Intent.
