GREENVILLE, N.C. – Four members of the women's track and field program have qualified for the United States Track And Field Junior Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 15-17 in Bloomington, Ind.

Rising sophomores Sommer Knight, Jada Terrell, Brooke Stith and Mackenzie Whitaker are slated to compete. The meet serves as Team USA's selection event for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.

Knight enjoyed a solid freshman season during which she set the indoor and outdoor school records in the pole vault. She also finished third at both the American Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor league meets in the event before advancing to the NCAA East Preliminary where she finished 13th – just one spot short of advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Knight is the first female pole vaulter in program history to clear 13 feet.

Â
Stith completed her freshman season by qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary in the triple jump. She also earned all-conference honors in the event with a second-place finish at the AAC Indoor Championships before taking fourth at the league's outdoor meet.
Â
Whitaker was one of the most versatile members of the squad in 2018, competing mostly in the hurdles, jumps and relays. She capped off her initial season at ECU by earning all-conference honors in the long jump, slotting second at the AAC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 6.07 meters – the sixth-best clearance in program history.
