GREENVILLE, N.C. – Former East Carolina track and field standout Tynita Butts, a six-time NCAA All-America performer that competed for the Pirates in the high jump from 2009-14, earned qualification to Team USA for the upcoming International Association of Athletics Federations World Championships in Doha, Qatar Sept. 26 to Oct. 7.
Â
Butts placed third at the 2019 United States Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, to cement her spot on the roster, notching a personal-best mark of 1.92 meters.

In 2014, Butts' redshirt senior season, she was named the Conference USA Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year after winning the league title and finishing second at the NCAA Outdoor Championships – the highest-ever finish for an East Carolina athlete at the meet.
