Former Pirate Hollingsworth Qualifies For 2020 Marathon Olympic Trials

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Former East Carolina track and field standout Chelsea Hollingsworth has qualified for the 2020 Team USA Olympic Trials in the marathon.

Hollingsworth finished the California International Marathon in a time of 2:41.26 to meet the "B" standard qualifying mark of 2:45.00. She is the first former Pirate to participate in the trials since Avion Jones advanced to the final round of the high jump in 2016.

A native of Greensboro, N.C., Hollingsworth competed for the ECU cross country and track and field programs from 2010-14. She participated in the NCAA Southeast Cross Country Regional three times, placing a career-best 54th in 2012 after taking 18th at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships the same year.
