
Diving Teams Open Season By Hosting ECU Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2005-06 season by hosting the ECU Invitational on Friday.
The duo of Ryan Hunt and Lucy Hicks teamed up to receive the highest placement among the ECU pairs competing. Hunt and Hicks placed fifth in the three-meter dive and eighth on the one-meter boards. The duo finished with a combined score of 544.70.
"I was really proud at how well they competed this weekend," said diving coach Rich MacDonald. "It's so early in the year for a meet of this caliber, but it is a great way to prepare for the up coming season. I am excited about all this team can accomplish this year."
Teams particpating in the the meet included North Carolina, NC State, Duke and UNC Wilmington.
Other total combined scores for the Pirates included: Ashley Gelsomin / Andrea DePhillips (478.55), Abbey Hillen / Christie Icenhower (466.35) and Peter Bradyhouse / Tarver Mygatt (434.60).
ECU competes in its first dual meet of the season Saturday, Oct. 15, at College of Charleston.
