
Lady Pirate Soccer Falls To UCF, 3-1

ORLANDO, Fla. - The East Carolina women's soccer team dropped its third Conference USA match of the season Friday night as they fell to UCF 3-1 at the UCF Soccer Complex.
UCF (6-8, 3-1 C-USA) struck first in the 18th minute when Jessalyn Withers netted a pass from Jennifer Montgomery who one touched a pass from Michelle DeCespedes.
Twenty minutes later, East Carolina (5-8, 1-3 C-USA) even the score on a penalty kick by Madison Keller.
At the end of the first half, the Golden Knights had outshot the Pirates, 15-3, and had taken five corner kicks to ECU's two. Amber Campbell had five saves in the net for ECU, while Julie Snaman collected just one.
Five minutes into the second half, Kristin Bilby gave UCF the 2-1 lead when she headed the ball past Campbell. Montgomery and McCain picked up the assists on the goal.
Katie McCain picked up her first goal of the season with eight minutes to go in regulation. She redirected an East Carolina pass and sent the ball to the upper left corner of the net.
UCF outshot ECU, 24-7, while the team also took more corner kicks (9-4). Snaman ended the night with the one save she had from the first half.
The Pirates will stay on the road when they travel to Southern Miss on Sunday, Oct. 16 for a 1 p.m. tilt.
