WEST LAFAYETTE, IN. ? East Carolina senior golfer Adrienne Millican recorded her sixth top-10 finish of the season at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational after carding a 54-hole score of 225, nine-over par, finishing tied for eighth place. The tournament was being held at the par-72, 6,025-yard Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Kampen Course.
The Pirates (79-54-3) finished tied for ninth with Iowa State in the team portion of the event after posting rounds of 316, 306 and 307 for a 54-hole total of 929.
Michigan vaulted from fifth place to tie TCU as co-champions of the event. Michigan and TCU recorded 898 over the three rounds. Northwestern finished third with a total of 900, with host school Purdue (907) coming in fourth and Texas A&M (909) finishing fifth.
Kansas' Amanda Costner was the low individual of the event beating Camillie Blackerby (TCU) and Nicole Melton (Texas A&M) by three strokes. She totaled 217 after a final-round 73. She carded a first-round 73 and a 71 in the afternoon on Saturday.
"We really struggled in the first round of this tournament," said Head Coach Kevin Williams. "We put ourselves in a hole and were never able to recover. I thought our last two rounds were very solid. We have to put this behind us and get focused for the Conference USA Tournament."
The Pirates will be back in action next week, April 18-20, when they participate in the Conference USA Tournament in Memphis, Tenn.
