
Women's Swimming Downs Duke

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Sophomore Megan Pulaski set an East Carolina varsity and Minges Aquatic Center record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:09.74 to lead the women's team to a 144-99 victory over Duke here Saturday as it improved to 9-1 on the season.
The men's team also posted a 130-113 victory over the Blue Devils to improve to 6-2 overall.
"We swam an outstanding meet today and beat a very, very good Duke team," said Pirate head coach Rick Kobe. "We're looking forward to concluding our dual meet season next week at UNC Wilmington."
Pulaski also finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.38, beating her closest competitor by nearly five seconds.
Sophomore Rebecca Perry also posted victories in each of her events, winning both the 100-yard (51.23) and 200-yard (1:50.98) freestyle races.
Senior Adrienne Williams also won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.52.
On the diving boards, ECU's Ryan Hunt and Christie Icenhower each won both the one-meter and three-meter dives.
On the men's side, East Carolina won five of 11 events led by the junior class and claimed both the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyles relays.
Charlie McCanless won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.16 and Bryan Yasinsac finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 21.71.
ECU will wrap up its dual meet season on Saturday, February 4 against UNC Wilmington on the UNCW campus.
