GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Amy Hart recorded a new personal-best with a 3.66-meter effort in the pole vault to headline seven East Carolina women's track top 10 finishes during the Gator Invitational at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Saturday.
Hart, who earned a seventh-place standing, bettered her previous best of 3.50 meters set a week earlier at the Virginia Tech Invitational and earned automatic qualification status for the ECAC Championships later this winter. In addition to Hart's performance, junior Brie Berkowitz also posted a career-best with a vault of 3.20 meters to earn a ninth-place finish.
Freshmen throwers Danielle Eiler and Elizabeth Mauney stood seventh and ninth in the shot put with personal-high tosses of 12.93 and 11.28 meters, respectively. Mauney also finished ninth in the weight throw after an effort of 13.47 meters.
Senior sprinter Terri Davenport picked up where she left off after a successful 2005 season by finishing 10th in the 200-meter event with a time of 25.32. Sophomore Portia Baker was sixth in the 400 meters with a clip of 58.13.
Other notable women's performances include an 11th-place standing by senior Caitlin Littlefield in the mile run with a personal-best time of 5:18.46. Littlefield followed the effort with another career-best, turning in a 10:43.39 clip in the 3,000-meter run (13th). Sophomore Aisha Bilal-Mack (2:20.07) and freshman Hollie Brooks (2:24.31) posted 14th and 18th-place finishes in the 800-meter run while sophomore Chante Sessoms backed ECU's strong performance in the field events by standing 14th in the long jump (5.13).
