LEXINGTON, Ky. - After a dreadful day of gusty winds, rain and blistery weather the East Carolina women's golf sits in 13th place with 18 holes remaining at the Wildcat Fall Invitational being played at the University Club's Big Blue Course.
Louisville sits atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 630 (320-310) and has a one-stroke lead over N.C. State and Memphis (631). Six other teams are within six shots of the lead, while host school Kentucky is in a tie for 11th place with a score of 655 (329-326).
Mississippi State's Amanda Mathis leads the individual leaderboard with a four-over-par 148. Mathis placed second in the 2005 event.
For ECU (659), freshman Ana Maria Puche is in a tie for 27th place after shooting a 17-over-par 161. Sophomore Lene Krog holds a tie for 37th with a 19-over-par. Freshman Abby Bools (t49th) and Kristen Billings (71st) are making the collegiate debuts and Senior Jessica Hauser is tied for 65th.
Weather was a factor for all players as rain and wind was in the forecast for the entire two rounds. Temperatures were in the mid-50s.
The final round of play begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m. EST with a shotgun start. Results and a recap will be available at www.golfstats.com.
