Tulsa, Okla - For the second time this season, Amy Szilard scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 overtime win. Friday night against Tulsa, Szilard put a shot past goalkeeper Meredith Hart in the 107th minute to improve ECU's record to 8-6-2 and 3-2-1 in conference play. Szilard would not have been able to score the game winning goal had it not been for a save by ECU goalkeeper Amber Campbell. Tulsa's Katie Ward had a point blank shot and Campbell was able to make a diving save to preserve the game.
For the second straight game, ECU and Amber Campbell recorded a shutout. It was Campbell's sixth shutout on the season and the team's seventh. Amy Szilard, who scored both goals in the Pirates last match, has seven goals on the season and a team-leading 15 points.
"Our backs and our goalkeeper really kept us in the game today," said head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "After two big saves in overtime by Campbell, Amy Szilard did what we hope our goal scorers can do when they are given the opportunity."
Szilard has now accounted for the last five out of six and seven out of the last nine goals scored by the Lady Pirates. Sarah Kirkley registered her team leading ninth assist. Prior to the assist, Kirkley was ranked 10th nationally in assists.
The Pirates will play their last road game of the season against SMU on Sunday at 2 p.m. At the conclusion of the game, ECU will return home for the final weekend of play before hopefully traveling to Dallas, Texas to compete in the Conference USA Tournament.
