Men's Golf Finishes 12th At 49er Classic

CONCORD, N.C. --- Sophomore Andre Thorsen fired a one-over par 73 to lead the Pirates to a final round total of 225, its best total of the tournament, Tuesday at the Sleep Inn & Suites/49er Collegiate Classic played at the Cabarrus Country Club.
Thorsen finished tied for 25th, while senior Robin Smith placed 12th to record the Pirates' highest finish with a nine-over par 225. ECU finished the tournament tied for 12th out of 14 teams.
Scores were high throughout the tournament on the par-72, 7,098-yard course. ECU freshman Tripp Brizendine tied for 41st at 234 (75-79-80), while senior Philip Reale finished tied for 59th at 240 (83-81-76).
Sophomore Markus Leandersson finished with a 248 to place 77th.
The Pirates will conclude their fall season at the SeaScape Collegiate in Nags Head beginning Monday, Oct. 30
