Kiawah Island, S.C. - East Carolina freshman golfer Ana Maria Puche posted a final round even-par score of 72 to finish tied for 15th at Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate which was held at the par-72, 5,953 yard Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
Puche, who recorded her second consecutive top-15 placement, shot a nine-over par 225 (80-73-72) to pace the Pirates. Michelle Williams (235) finished tied for 58th, Kristen Billings (237) tied for 67th, while Abby Bools (238) finished tied for 71st and Jessica Hauser (247) tied for 91st.
Steffi Kirchmayr (College of Charleston) fired a 214 total, including a 69 in the first round, to win individual medalist honors. Finishing two shots behind Kirchmayr was East Tennessee State's Laura Jansone (216). Rounding out the top five were Cristina Gonzalex (Louisville) and Jessica Steward (Miami, Fla.) who share third place followed by Iowa State's Karly Pinder in fifth.
Campbell shot an 879 to win the tournament, with East Tennessee State coming in second with an 889. Louisville rounded out the top three with an 893. The Pirates (16-35-0) finished in 17th with a two-day sccore of 933 (308-344-314).
ECU will compete in its final fall event on Nov. 6-7 when they travel to Augusta, Ga. to participate in the America's Choice Mortgage Invitational.
