
Davenport's Season-Best Leads Lady Pirate Track

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior Terri Davenport, sophomore Portia Baker and sophomore Chante Sessoms all recorded top 10 finishes to lead the East Carolina women's indoor track squad at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup which was held at the Ashenfelter Track Center inside Penn State University's Multi-Sport Complex over the weekend.
Davenport turned in a season-best time of 24.50 in the 200-meter dash to earn a ninth-place finish while also placing 13th in the 400-meter event with a career-best effort of 56.69. Baker established new personal records with a clip of 55.97 to take ninth-place honors in the 400 while and contributing a 25.15 mark in the 200-meter event (22nd).
Sessoms posted a season-best 5.42-meter performance in the long jump to stand 10th while producing a new career mark in the 400 meters with a time of 58.45 (29th). Freshmen Grace Pelerin and Shereen Rookwood each set new PRs in the high jump with heights of 1.55 meters to finish 21st.
Other top individual efforts include career-bests by sophomore Aisha Bilal-Mack (2:15.23/13th) and freshman Hollie Brooks (2:22.21/33rd) in the 800 meters, senior Caitlin Littlefield (10:23.74/12th) and Jessica Raphael (11:25.06/20th) in the 3,000 meters.
The Lady Pirates will take a week off to prepare for the Conference USA Indoor Championships, scheduled for Feb. 24-26 in Houston, Tex.
