GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Head Women's Golf Coach Kim Lewellen has announced that Ana Maria Puche has sign a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Lady Pirates for the 2006-07 season.
Puche, a native of Barranquilla, Colombia, recorded three first place finishes during the 2004 Amateur season (Open of Cartagena, Open of Pereira and Open of Monteria), which led to a No. 2 national ranking in 2005. She also finished in the top-3 in five other tournaments in her home land of Colombia.
"Ana will bring a lot to the program," said Lewellen. "She has proven to be a talented player and a good student. We look forward to her being a part of the Pirate family."
Puche attended Karl C. Parrish High School where she also was a member of the volleyball team.
The Pirates (84-43-4), who recently captured the 2006 Conference USA Championship, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals in two weeks.
