Pirate Women's Track Captures Three Titles At Neely Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Aisha Bilal-Mack, junior Chelsea Salisbury and junior Lindsey Rosales all captured individual titles to pace the East Carolina women's track squad at the rain-shortened Murray Neely Invitational late Saturday night at the Irwin Belk Track.
Bilal-Mack established a new personal record in the 800 meters, winning the event in a time of 2:16.82. Salisbury took home her second javelin crown in as many weeks with a toss of 36.45 meters while Rosales matched her season-best in the pole vault with an effort of 3.65 meters.
In all, the Pirates registered 10 top five finishes and established four new personal standards during the competition. Half of ECU's top five standings came in the track events as freshman Hollie Brooks added a second-place finish in the 800 meters (PR of 2:19.06) while seniors Jessica Collins and Megan Walling earned runner-up status in the 1,500 meters (career-best 4:55.84) and 5,000 meters (19:30.17), respectively.
In addition, sophomore Hayley Flynn set a new personal record with a time of 12:13.60 to finish second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crushing her previous mark of 12:47.81 set earlier this season at the Clemson Invitational.
Freshman Danielle Eiler continued her strong performance with second and third-place standings in the discus (41.82 meters) and javelin throws (35.16) while junior Emily Thompson added a fifth-place position in the discus after an effort of 38.53 meters.
Senior Terri Davenport paced ECU in the sprint events with an eighth-place finish in the 100 meters (12.32) and a sixth-place standing in the 200 meters (24.65).
East Carolina will return to action next weekend when it competes at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
