ECU Women's Track Competes at Prestigious Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshman Danielle Eiler placed in two events while the Pirates' 4x800 relay squad turned in their best time of the season during East Carolina's participation in the prestigious 112th running of the Penn Relays over the weekend at historic Franklin Field.
Eiler earned a 27th-place finish in the javelin throw after an effort of 34.22 meters while also standing 22nd in the shot put after a toss of 12.34 meters.
The Pirates' 4x800 relay team, consisting of sophomore Aisha Bilal-Mack, freshman Hollie Brooks, sophomore Hayley Flynn and sophomore Meghan Glassmacher, turned in a season-best time of 9:34.99 to finish 23rd overall after completing an 11th-place result in heat competition.
The quartet bested its previous mark of 9:43.02 set during the Aggie Relays back on March 25.
In addition, sophomore Chante Sessoms and junior Lindsey Rosales competed in the long jump and pole vault competitions, respectively, but did not place.
After an off week, East Carolina will return to action May 11-13 when it competes at the Conference USA Championships in El Paso, Texas.
