ECU Golf Claims Fourth Fall Title At UAB Beach Bash

GULF SHORES, ALA. - The East Carolina women's golf team closed out the 2007 Fall season by capturing its fourth tournament championship in five events Tuesday afternoon at the UAB Beach Bash. The event was being held at the par-2, 5,909-yard Oak Point Golf Club.
Amber Littman guided the Pirates (59-14-0) to the title with a three-over par 145 (70-75) and recorded her first collegiate title, and third top 10 finish. Emelie Lind (73-74) and Abby Bools (72-75) each carded a five-over par 147 to take a share of third place, marking the third top10 finish for each.
Sophomore Ana Maria Puche bounced back on day two of the event finishing tied for 18th with a score of 155 (81-74). Rounding out the Pirates efforts was freshman Colleen Estes who posted a 13-over par 157 (76-81) to record her highest collegiate finish with a share of 26th place.
The Pirates (291-298=589) took a six stroke lead into the final round of play and extended that to a 21-stoke win over second place Texas San Antonio (610). Rounding out the top five were ULM (612), Samford (616) and Texas-Pan American (619).
ECU will hit the links again on February 17, 2008 when they travel south to Miami, Fla. to participate in the Papa John's Intercollegiate.
