MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The East Carolina women's golf team finished tied for third place with USF recording a 56-hole score of 932 at the Papa Johns Collegiate Championships at Don Shula's Golf Club.
The Pirates (28-39-1) had two golfers finish in the top-11 in Jessica Hauser (Germantown, N.C.) who finished tied for seventh and Lene Krog (Leir, Norway) who tied for 11th place.
"We finished third against a strong field, but to be honest, we didn't play to our potential," said Head Coach Kim Lewellen. "I look forward to seeing what happens when we bring our "A" game. I was very proud of Jessica Hauser our senior who finished seventh in the tournament".
For Hauser (77-79-75=231) it was her best collegiate finish and marked the second time in her career that she recorded a top-10 placement. Krog (78-75-80) posted her tenth career top-20 placement and the second of the season.
In the team portion of the event, Louisville took home the title after posting a three-day score of 924 (308-313-303), followed by San Jose State (312-311-303=926) for second place with ECU (314-311-307) and USF (318-311-303=932) coming in a tie for third.
Louisville's Cindy LaCrosse took home medalist honors with a 10-over par 226 (73-81-72), while Erica Moston (San Jose St.) came in second, followed by Kathleen Ekey (Furman) in third and a three-way tie for fourth at 230.
The Pirates will be back in action on Mar. 5-6 when they travel to Pinehurst, N.C. to participate in the Pinehurst Invitational hosted by College of Charleston.
