HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team carded a 303 in the final round to finish with a two-day total of 44-over par and claim fourth place at the Wexford Plantation Invitational on Tuesday.
Chattanooga captured the overall team title, shooting a 33-over par during the 54-hole tournament.
Marquette placed second with a 36-over par (299-206-295=900), while USC-Aiken placed third (307-304-296=907), just one stroke ahead of ECU.
Finishing behind East Carolina in the top 10 were Eastern Michigan (+50), Furman (+52), Mercer (+54), Wofford (+56), Francis Marion (+59) and Toledo (+61).
Mike Van Sickle of Marquette was the lone player to shoot under par and carded a three under-par 213 to win the individual title.
ECU junior Chris Ault fired a nine over-par (79-70-76) to earn a ninth place finish, one stroke ahead of teammate Andre Thorsen, who was just one-over on the final 18 holes (78-75-73).
Freshman Tanner Briele recorded a top 20 finish by tying for 19th with a 13-over 225 (76-78-75). Tripp Brizendine (78-76-81) and Robin Smith (83-73-79) tied for 44th with a 19-over 235.
