Krog and Lady Pirates Finish Fifth At Waterlefe/USF Invitational

BRADENTON, FLA. - East Carolina sophomore Lene Krog posted a 54-hole score of 229 to finished tied for fifth place at the 2007 Waterlefe/USF Invitational, which was being held at the par-72, 5,975 yard Waterlefe Golf & River Club.
Krog, a native of Norway, recorded her third top five placement on the season and 11th of her career after posting rounds of 73, 72 and 84. Since missing a majority of the fall season due to participating in the Women's World Amateur Championships in South Africa, Krog finished tied for fourth at the America's Choice Mortgage, tied for 11th at the Papa John's Collegiate and tied for second at the Pinehurst Challenge.
In team action the Pirates (52-42-3) also finished fifth after posting an event score of 955 (320-309-326). Maryland took home the team title after recording a score of 926 (313-303-310), which was followed by Coastal Carolina (927), host school USF (929), Princeton (938) and ECU and Florida International (955) rounding out the top five.
Individually for the Pirates, junior Emelie Lind (82-80-79=241) finished tied for 28th, freshmen Ana Maria Puche (84-78-81=243) was 36th and Abby Bools (81-82-82=245) claimed a share of 38th. Senior Jessica Hauser withdrew from the tournament in the third round after posting a 36-hole score of 167 (88-79).
The Pirates will be back in action on March 26-27 when they travel to Wilmington, N.C. to participate in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational.
