
Lady Pirates In First At Pinehurst Challenge

Pinehurst, N.C. - East Carolina fired a 308 to lead by two strokes over the College of Charleston after the first round of the 2007 Pinehurst Challenge being held this week at Pinehurst #8 in Pinehurst, N.C. N.C. State, with its 312, is third and fourth with a 313 is Campbell.
Richmond's Ashley Lambert leads the race for individual medalist honors, shooting a 73 in windy conditions, and is two strokes ahead of Arkansas Little-Rock's Sara Wilkinson and East Carolina's Lene Krog who are tied for second with a 75 each.
Ana Maria Puche (76) and Jessica Hauser (77) are tied for fourth and tenth respectively heading into final round action Tuesday morning. Freshman Abby Bools (80) and junior Emelie Lind (80) are tied for 33rd.
The Pirates ranked first in par-3 scoring (3.05), while ranking third in par-4 (4.44) and fourth in par-5's (5.25). ECU recorded eight birdies (t-2nd) and 50 pars (t-1st) during first round action.
Second and final round action begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
