TEXARKANA, Ark. - East Carolina moved up one spot into 10th place after two rounds Monday at the 2007 Men's Golf Championship at the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club in Oneonta, Ala. Junior Anthony Reale remained tied for 17th place after finishing the first 36 holes at three-over par.
The Pirates completed round two one stroke ahead of Rice for 10th place, while trailing Marshall by 11 strokes for ninth place. Freshman Tripp Brizendine carded the Pirates' lowest score of round two Monday with a one-over par 73. He is currently tied for 30th at six-over par.
Senior Robin Smith is nine-over through 36 holes, while junior Andre Thorsen is at +10 and junior Chris Ault is 16-over.
Tulsa seniors Brett Myers (69) and Sam Korbe (70) both shot under par today to join classmate Ryan Henry in the Top 10 and lead the Golden Hurricane to a 14-stroke lead.
Tulsa carded another round of 285 and enter the final round six-under par. UAB shaved 12 strokes off its first-day total to move into second place and is at eight-over 584 after 36 holes.
Houston also made an improvement from Sunday to jump into third place (586, +10). The Cougars were led by junior Jordan Irwin, who fired a 69 (-3) today and currently sits in a tie for first place with TU's Henry at four-under for the two rounds.
Tulsa's Myers and UTEP sophomore Roger Sloan were also three-under for the low round of the day. Myers enters Tuesday in third place, followed closely by Marshall freshman Christian Brand and UAB senior Garrett Osborn, who are tied for fourth place with a two-under 142.
It is a tight race for positions four through eight as Southern Miss and UCF are tied for fourth place, just one stroke behind Houston. Memphis, SMU and UTEP are all just one stroke behind them and tied for sixth place.
Tuesday's final round tees off at 8 a.m., with teams going off both the front and back nine. The winner of the C-USA Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
