GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina sophomore Abby Bools was named Conference USA Women's Golfer-of-the-Week after posting her first collegiate victory at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic league officials announced today.
The Hickory, N.C. native recorded a two-under par 142 (74-68) and defeated teammate Amber Littman and Georgia State's Iliska Verwey in a five-hole playoff to claim her fourth career top-10 finish and sixth career top-20 placement.
Bools, whose round of 68 was the third lowest 18-hole score in school history, guided ECU to the team title as the Pirates posted a 36-hole tournament score of 578 (two-over par). With the win, the Pirates have recorded at least one team tournament win in all eight years of the program's existence and have posted 11 total titles. The weekly honor is the second of Bools' career and first in 2007.
The Pirates (14-0) will be back in action on Oct. 5 when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to participate in the Tar Heel Invitational.
